The big question always is "So what do they really taste like ?" We had a couple staffers review them in a taste test. Below is a summary of their impressions:
They come out of package as a light yellow hard square bar. When you bite it is a bit crumbly like a dried brownie or dried muffin. The texture in your mouth is granular like sugar. They require very little effort to chew and swallow, mostly dissolving. The bar has a mild lemon flavor - similar to the crust of a lemon meringue pie. It is not offensive, nor is it something you would order as dessert at a restaurant. It is somewhere in between, and rather boring. Compact, efficient, low cost, readily available vitamins and calories for an emergency situation.
Choose from 1200 , 2400 or 3600 calorie packages. Inside are multiple pre-cut 400 calorie bars for portion control and sharing. Specifically, the 1200 package has 3 bars, 2400, has 6, and the 3600 contains 9. These packages really maximize calories per square inch.
Weight (these are dense calorie packed bars) :
1200 calorie package is about 8 ounces (1/2 lb.)
2400 calorie package is about 15 ounces (~1 lb. )
3600 calorie package is about 25 ounces (about 1 - 1/2 lbs.)
