So What's it like to wear a JakPak ? The feel -- imagine wearing and empty small daypack, then over it - you put on a well made rain jacket. You can tell something is back there - but it is not heavy or obtrusive. It goes on like a normal wind breaker style waterproof jacket. The cuffs on the sleeves have velcro to adjust fit on your wrist. Two front left and right zippered storage pockets are easy to access. The hood has cords to secure it during high winds. All zippers have a rain fly to keep you dry in all conditions.
The primary difference between this and a normal jacket is that feel that you a small empty daypack on your back (weight of the tent material). The integrated suspenders clip to waistband of your pants to counter balance and cancel out this feeling. We found that filling the front pockets with gear (camera, portable stove, food, etc.) also helped balance the load.
