We have a continous supply coming from the factory but cannot allways keep up.
Motion sense mode is very useful.
When hunting from a blind, the last thing you want to hear is the click of a flashlight button. With this headlamp you can wave your hand, get enough light to take care of a task, wave it again to turn it off.
Fishing - when your hand is covered with fish slime or dirt from worms, just wave your hand for light, wave again to turn it off - no goober on your headlamp.
Camping - Hang the light from the ceiling of your tent. If you need light - just reach up toward the light. When motion is sensed within 6 inches - it turns on. No fumbling for buttons.
The motion features provides instant hands free ON / OFF for the LED - great for anytime your hands are dirty, greasy, wet, have paint on them --- whenever you need hands free lighting and activation.

Strobe mode is excellent for attracting attention in emergencies and can run for a long time due to the digital nature of LEDs. Motion mode provides a basic ON / OFF when you pass your hand within 6 inches of the front of the headlamp.

About brightess - We import these direcdtly from a China factory in bulk packaging. No documentation or certification of the 1000 lumen claim, however when we compare the output to other 1000 lumen flashlights - it is comparable. We find lumen ratings helpful but feel a more useful measure is "friend or foe" distance. In other words - at what distance can you reliably recognize a person as a friend or foe / stranger. Using that measure, the HIGH mode of this headlamp puts out enough light to recognize a friend at 75 feet. On LOW that reduces to 25 feet.
When you first receive the headlamp - plug it into a USB port - LED will glow red (charging). Keep it charging until the charging LED changes to green (full). Do not leave plugged in for long periods after the green indicator lights - may damage batteries. If you are gonig to store the unit and not use it - charge it to full, then store. To maximum life - take it out of storage and give it a full charge at least every 3 months, turn it ON - let it discharge, then give it a full charge before storing again. Lithium batteries like to be used. Storing a Lithium battery for a year or two - is pretty much a death sentence for the battery chemistry.
How to use the Headlamp:
To use the light - While wearing - there are two bottons on top - left and right. The right button is for Conventional Mode and the left button is for Motion Mode.
Conventional Mode: The right button is for the normal HIGH, LOW, STROBE, OFF cycle. Clicking the right button will cycle through those modes.
Motion Mode: The left button activates the motion ON/OFF mode. Turning on the motion mode will cause the left button to glow a faint blue - indicating that motion mode is active, the main LED will be turned on in HIGH mode. Click the left button again and the main LED will be set to LOW mode. Once in either HIGH or LOW motion mode --- you can pass your hand within 6 inches of the front of the headlamp to turn the main LED to OFF. Pass your hand again and the main LED will go ON. Passing your hand in front of the light serves as an ON / OFF toggle. Press the left button again to take the lamp out of motion mode and go to OFF.
During testing we were concerned that the light would go on and off when walking down a trail (sensing motion) - but it did not. The motion sensor ignores motion beyond 6 inches. It takes a deliberate pass of your hand in front of the sensor to trigger it.
Backpackers - it would not be difficult to modify this light to mount to the chest strap on your pack if you prefer that location to a headmount.
