Really - some box wines are very good. Buy a box. Prior to your backpack trip, open the box, pull out the Silver Mylar bag that contains the wine. Do not break the seal on the pour spout. The bags are very strong. Place the bag on the top/inside of your fully loaded pack, resting it on clothes or soft items. Carefully close the backpack. The bag of wine will ride nicely. When you get to your camp, put the bag in a nearby cold stream and secure with rocks. The stream water will cool it and you will be the only backpacker with cold wine for MILES! The only weight penalty is mylar and a bit of plastic. The rest of the weight is wonderful wine (no heavy glass). The look on other campers faces is amazing when you break out some wine, miles from civilization. Enjoy !
