Plus they fold up to compact size for easy carry - cheap insurance against getting lost. Go ahead - take one out during a downpour and read it - it won't hurt it . Trail elevations, junction mileages, latitude-longitude notations, and UTM grid-lines are all shown.
Don't forget the reading glasses and light (sold in sidebar) so you can read the map with tired eyes.
