Replacement filter is good for about 200 22 ounce bottles worth of clean water. This is the FILTER only - works in the bottle sold in the sidebar.
Use with the Bota of Boulder Brand Outback Portable Water Filtration bottle. Filters 99.9% Giardia Lamblia and Cryptosporidium cysts from untreated water using a principle called tortuosity.
The Outback filtration matrix is comprised of inert, synthetic polymers, molecular sieves and microspheres that have been specifically configured to trap and retain these organisms while inhibiting the growth of bacteria.
All filter efficacy
tests (pdf) were performed by Hydreion LLC using water from the Rattlesnake Creek in Missoula, Montana (pathogens added). Testing was conducted using the USEPA Guide Standard (1986) and Protocol for Testing Microbiological Water Purifiers.
Three identical filter systems were tested for each organism or chemical. Positive and negative controls were used to evaluate any possible laboratory error.
