Key Features:
Average Outdoor filter life of 25 gallons filtration. However that can be extended. If you use the filter in everyday mode (Advanced filter not installed) and use it to filter USA tap water (remove Chlorine, dust, etc.) it may last 150 gallons before the microscopic pathways clog up.
If you drink green water from the Amazon River in Brazil with the advanced filter module installed– you might only get 9 gallons before the tiny microscopic filter openings plug up. If you go to Alaska and drink water from rivers that come from snow pack; you might get 200 gallons before you need to get another straw.
End of useful life is indicated by clogging - becomes increasingly difficult to draw water through the straw.
The advanced module in the straw is powered with BIOSAFE®, which removes up to 99.99% of contaminants found in drinking water including Guardia, Cryptosporidium, and E-Coli Bacteria.
Proven effective against bacteria and virus to six logs reduction (99.9999%).
To use: Open the Valved end. Use mouth suction to draw water via the mouthpiece ( looks like a whistle mouthpiece). In very dirty or questionable water conditions - unscrew the tip and insert the advanced filter (packaged in black container on a carabiner) then reinstall the tip. In advanced mode - draw water slowly through the straw permitting the water to remain in contact with the iodinated resins of the advanced filter for as long as possible.

It removes up to 99.99% of contaminants and pollutants found in fresh water supplies including Aesthetics such as chlorine, Sediment and dirt; Biologicals such as Giardia, Cryptosporidium, E-Coli Bacteria; Chemicals (VOC’S) such as DDT, MTBE, Benzene, Chloroforms (THM'S); and Dissolved Solids (Heavy metals) such as Arsenic, Lead, Mercury, Copper, Zinc, Aluminum and Chromium 6.
The filter contains EPA approved iodinated resin (EPA Reg #: 35917-2) which has been proven effective in the removal of bacteria and viruses to six logs (99.9999%), while leaving no iodine in the water.

It physically distrupts the targe organism's cell membrane on contact. BIOSAFE molecularly bonds to a treates substrate, thus making the material itself antimicrobial. BIOSAFE is safe, non-toxic, non-leaching and is EPA, FDA and NSF approved. It is molecularly bonded to the filters and acts like a "pincushion" of molecules that disrupt and rupture the cell structures of water borne micro-organisms. Its biostatic effect reduces bacteria to four logs or 99.99%. BIOSAFE is colorless, tasteless, natural and odorless and has an indefinite shelf life.
