This Reel is designed to work with the Pen Rods sold here. It is a high quality Ball Bearing spinning type reel with adjustable drag, left or right hand retrieve, and removable line spool. The base is specially machined to connect to the Pen Rods via the slide screw attachment. It is lightweight, yet fully functional and provides accurate casts of 75 feet or more (4lb test, 1/4 oz. lure).

It is very serviceable and easy to clean for backcountry repairs and line detangling. Combined with the pen rod, this is the setup we take on most of our hikes.

To cast you open the wire bail that wraps line around the spool, holding the line with your index finger. Release the line as you cast the rod forward. With a little practice you will be casting like an expert!

These are best for small stream or lakeshore fishing with spinners, spoons, or bait and bobbers.

Reels do not come loaded with fishing line. It is recommended that load them with 4 to 6lb. test line (we like Spiderwire EZ or Stren Magnathin).
