Adventure Medical Kits SOL Thermal Emergency Bivvy |
Thermo-Lite 2.0 Bivy by Adventure Medical Kits - the SOL Thermal Bivvy. An emergency sleeping bag that is warm, compact and durable.
New Improved Model for 2011. This years model is a little heavier, but more durable. We did an audit of 15 units on the shelf. Weights varied between 8.2 and 8.9 ounces. Some packages still have the OLD weight listed (6.9 ounces) but that is simply incorrect, old packaging.
The reason the 2011 bivy 2.0 SOL version is heavier - AMK went with a stronger material - Thermoflect - a metalized, heat reflective, non woven material - on the top. The older models had the strong Thermoflect on the bottom with a lighter, thinner material on top. By putting the strong Thermoflect material on the top as well as the bottom, the product is more puncture resistant and durable. When it could be life or death, you want a durable product.
For 2011 the orange color outer has been replaced with a reflective silver look.
Adventure Medical Kits #1 selling survival item for the past five years!
The Thermo-Lite 2 multi-functional, year round compact bivvy sack is ideal as a light weight replacement for your sleeping bag when temperatures are above 50F/9C and an excellent emergency survival shelter for winter time activities. Also perfect for those involved in backcountry skiing, cross country hiking, snowmobiling, extreme camping or for anyone who simply wants a summer sleeping bag or emergency shelter.
The Thermo Lite 2.0 (One Person Bivvy) reflects up to 80% of radiated body heat, is 30% stronger and lighter than the old Thermo Lite Bivy Sack. The Adventure Medical Kits Thermolite 2 Bivy is waterproof and light enough to carry anywhere. The Thermo-Lite 2.0 uses non-woven Thermoflect fabric that is waterproof and windproof while still producing an ultra light, warm weather sleep system. The inside has a fabric feel that is softer, more comfortable and quieter than other space blanket products(less crinkle = more sleep).
Edges of bag are secured by VELCRO hook and loop fabric that can be opened to about 1/2 way down the length of the bag to permit air circulation and reduce moisture / condensation build up.
Some of our customers have reported that they modify the bag by cutting the threads securing the FOOT area of the sleeping bag. Then sew in Velcro (hook and loop) patches to permit venting the foot area. Note that any modification voids the factory warranty, but it is up to your discretion.
The ultra light stuff sack allows you to conveniently store the Emergency Bivvy before or after use. It even has room for extra supplies that you may want to pack. WEIGHT: ~9.0 oz SIZE: 36" x 84"
