Easiest, Most Dependable Emergency Fire Starting Lighter. Smallest, Miniature size Real Working Roller Spark Wheel Fint Refillable Lighter.
We love this gadget for our survival kit. Cheap enough to get several - one for survival kit, car console, backpack, daypack, survival staff, fishing tackle box, or anywhere you might need an emergency light.
Weighing just 0.87 ounces (24.1 grams) and at only 1.75" long by 0.60" diameter this could be the worlds smallest cigarette lighter.
A single fill with lighter fluid is good for about 12 - 14 lights. Lighter comes without lighter fluid - you have to buy that separately and fill before use. Standard Zippo lighter fluid refill cans are available at most convenience and super market stores. Since it is empty this product can be shipped by air (ex: Priority Mail) without restriction.
Unlike flint and steel fire starters that only produce sparks - this produces a steady flame with just a flick of the spark wheel mounted on top. Fill the tiny lighter with normal Zippo type lighter fluid available at any corner store or gas station. Wick inside can be pulled up to adjust flame or to compensate for wear.
This is a compact, very small "peanut sized" lighter that is easy to conceal. Metal body is durable and crush resistant.
Miniature lighter is reliable and dependable - a couple flicks of the spark wheel ignites the cotton wick, drawing lighter fluid up from the chamber for a smooth burn.
Capacity is not huge, this mini refillable lighter is for emergency lighting only. If you use it as an everyday lighter you will be refilling it often. It will fit on your keychain and provide emergency fire starts.
Screw top has an O-ring to keep water out and any lighter fluid leaks in. Screw top also has a loop, split ring, and keychain - easily adapts to fit on your gear or car keys.
To refill: Open / unscrew top and pull up lighter reservoir out of protective case. Flip reservoir over and you will see the cotton wick in the chamber. You will also see a flat blade screw head - that screw is to replace the flint after repeated use. To fill with lighter fluid - remove protective pad and squirt in a bit of Zippo lighter fluid to saturate, but not swamp the cotton. Keep the reservoir inverted and put the pad back in. Place the bottom chamber over the inverted reservoir before turning upright. Screw cap on to transport.
To use: Remove the screw top with the lighter upright. If it seems wet from overfilling - wipe it off or let it air dry in a breeze. While holding the base, spin the spark wheel a 1/3 turn to generate sparks. Cotton wick should light and continue to burn as it draw fluid up from the reservoir. To extinguish - blow flame out. Replace cap when not in use.
Caution: Lighter fluid is flammable. Do not attempt fire start if lighter feels wet from overfilling. Wipe off or let dry in a breeze for a minute. Make sure hands are clean and dry of fluid. When using ANY lighter - always have a backup plan if it malfunctions - if you cannot blow it out - have a container of water that you can dump it in.
Do not take on planes - TSA will take it from you, even if the reservoir is emptly.
Tips for using the Miniature Lighter:
For survival -- a general rule of thumb is to have 3 ways to start a fire. This lighter can serve as one - make sure you have other backups - matches, flint and steel, sparking tool, as well as a stash of dry tinder in case your wood supply is damp. See more tools in the sidebar.
A good companion product is the Aluminum vial (sold in sidebar) that comes with an inner vial. The inner vial can be used to store spare lighter fluid for this mini lighter. Inner vial is good for about 3 refills of the lighter. Get one to ensure you have an emergency field supply. That spare lighter fluid can be poured onto tinder to help iginite a camp fire in wet conditions.
Lighter uses Zippo replacement wicks and flints should you need to service those components.
On heavily used units we have noticed some flaking of the silver finish, revealing brass below. Lighter fluid spills can exacerbate this. This does not affect the function of the lighter and is not considered a defect covered by warranty
A low cost alternative to the slim lighters from brands such as Braii, Nebo Firestash, Carl Mertens, and Clipper.
