Developed By A Grizzly Bear Attack Survivor - Mark Matheny. Mark was being mauled when his friend distracted the bear and got off a shot with a small self defense pepper can (4 ounces) made for urban environments. Basically, a lucky shot.
Mark eventually learned a lot about Bear Spray. He had ideas to improve existing products - such as a "fluffier" formulation that would hang in the air longer, better carrying holsters with a tied-on trigger safety wedge that wouldn't be as easily lost as the customary loose one, and more. He didn't invent the wheel, he just improve it. To execute these changes he started his own company mortgaged his home and 30 acres near Bozeman to finance the operation called UDAP.
Because of his own experience, Mark Matheny obviously puts a lot of forethought into his product because he knows it can mean the difference between life and death. Mark has studied every little detail to make his bear pepper spray product a functional and reliable deterrent.
The 12VPH sold here is the economy model but is extremely effective. A full 7.9 ounces of spray consisting of Oleoresin Capsicum AND Capsaicin is propelled up to 30 feet in a fog that overpowers the bears senses and causes searing pain. This causes a flight reaction and sends the Bruin the other direction fast.
