Underwater Kinetics makes some of the best rugged high performance lighting systems for scuba divers. We found that their small lights are perfect for backpacking, travel, camping, emergency kits and everyday use. They are overengineered so that they will provide years of reliable performance. The UK 9117 gives an extraordinarily Long Burn Time 15 hours+ on Alkaline, 10+ on Lithium batteries) because of its built in regulation circuitry. As battery charge nears its end, the circuitry fades the light output to prolong life. UK9117 - This version has the White 1.12 Watt LED lamp for excellent brightness and long battery life. The Mini Pocket Light clips to a hat brim or clothing for hands free lighting. It is also perfect for the key chain, purse, toolbox or glove box. Tough - can withstand drops of 6' onto concrete, the LED will not fail. This is the same light as UK 9005 (below) but LED based. 2.9" long and 1.4 oz. Made of yellow polycarbonate plastic, won't rust chip or fade. The bright LED puts out .2 watts power and lasts longer than conventional lights. Expect 15+ hours of burn time. The most unique feature of this light compared to competitors is the type of beam it projects. Rather than producing a bright center spot which fades quickly to dark, the UK 2AAA eLED projects a soft edged disk of even illumination. This is made possible by a compound lens optical system designed specially for the 2AAA eLED. From a distance of 24 inches the beam is about 6-7 inch in diameter or about 16 degrees. This type of illumination is very useful when trying to read a map or view a work area up close. During night forays on the trail these provide substantial lighting out to 25- 30 feet and light up signs and reflectors at 50-75 feet. Engineered right -they take maximum advantage of the power fo 2 AAA batteries and advanced circuitry recognizes low battery conditions and powers down to a low glow (so you are not left without ANY light) when batteries are near the end of their charge.
