Ultralight HDPE Plastic Alcohol Fuel Bottle |
|
This is an 8 fluid ounce capacity see through HDPE High Density Polyethylene container. HDPE provides high resistance to liquid penetration, and is abrasion resistant. This container is ideal for transporting denatured alcohol and filling alcohol stoves.
Can also be used to store regular Clorox (chlorine bleach) for use in water purification. Clorox Bleach breaks down to basically salt and water, so it is an environmentally friendly product. Filter the big stuff out of water, let it settle then decant the clear water into a vessel. Add 2 drops of Regular Clorox Bleach per quart of clear water, if water is cloudy double or triple the dose. Mix thoroughly, let stand for 30 minutes. Water is ready to drink. Only use Regular Clorox Bleach (not Fresh Scent or Lemon Fresh). To make sure that bleach is full strength, replace your supply every three months.
Bottle can be written on with Permanent marker to indicate contents or mixing instructions.
This bottle only weighs 29.4 grams (empty).
Easy Pour flip top lid makes filling your stove a simple task. Sure close spill proof top keeps fuel in the container until you need it.
Graduated markings on the side show 1 through 8 ounce levels with 1/2 ounce tick marks.
Height: 6.5 inches
Width: 1.9 inches
Filled weight: (with 8 fluid ounces alcohol) - 263 grams (about 9.2 ounces)
Please use caution with alcohol; it burns clean and the flames can be hard to see. Wipe any reside from your hands or clothing before lighting and keep children, tents, clothing, packs, and sleeping bags away from your burner. Never use indoors, use only in well ventilated areas.
WARNING: Never burn stoves indoors.
Tip: A ready source of fuel is a product called "Heet" (see additional pictures link above). It is used to protect fuel systems in automobiles. it is found at auto parts stores and in the auto parts aisles at Department Stores. The Yellow Bottle Heet is 99% methanol, which burns with a clean, blue flame, similar to that seen with most denatured alcohols. A 12 fluid ounce bottle currently costs around $2, and would be enough for 4-5 days. Try to avoid the RED HEET bottle - it is a different formulation with isopropyl alcohol which burns a yellow flame, lower temperature and tends to leave black residue on the stove and your pots and pans. It can be used in an absolute emergency, but try to get the YELLOW HEET. The HEET factory bottle is made for ONE TIME use. It is not suited to trail storage and measured pouring into a stove. Use this (or other HDPE bottles sold in sidebar) to store and dispense alcohol for your camp stove.
