After testing this incredible product out on my most recent camping trip, it is safe to say that its performance stands up there with some of the best. A v-shaped design provides full-body support and keeps comfort levels high throughout the night. Klymit has performed wonders by adding this to their camping products.
Warmth was maintained throughout the night and upon waking it was clear to see that that warmth wasn’t going anywhere. Pair this up with a well-made sleeping bag and you can enjoy high sleeping temperatures, even during the winter season.
Although the height of the mat was more than enough, the width itself was slightly lacking. This means some users may struggle to fully spread out on the pad, it is sadly not large enough for couples. However, the additional side rails do negate this somewhat as they prevent you from rolling off during the night.
Due to its hefty size, the mat itself is also reasonably heavy, weighing around 650g which can lower its portability somewhat. This doesn’t alter its performance it improves it as the heavier design does offer more support. The mat itself can also be easily rolled into a much more condensed size that can easily be stored within your camping stuff sack.
Overall, the performance of the Klymit Insulated Static V was surprising and was definitely a pleasure to experience. This can easily compete with some of the best pads on the market and is definitely one worth checking out or adding to your shopping cart as soon as you can!
Unlike other similar air pad products, the Klymit Insulated Static V sleeping pad utilizes deep welds that can spread out offering expansion zones that provide added comfort. This is in part due to the v-shaped chambers found throughout the pad that is built with the expansion zones in mind. Side, stomach, or back sleepers can rejoice as this unique design ensures your body gets all-around comfort no matter your chosen sleeping position.
Those of you worried about heat loss need not worry as due to the Klymit Static Insulated V’s use of synthetic insulation warmth is maintained with ease – even if you choose to sleep outside. This is once again in part due to the innovative v chambered design that slows down air movement and ensures the heat stays within the static V.
If you are the sort of person who rolls around constantly in the sleep and other similar products have you let you down, be sure to add this to your wish list for one reason – side rails. This incredible addition prevents sleepers from rolling off the mat during the night and offers impressive comfort no matter how you choose to lay. Pair this up with the patented V-shaped design, and it is no wonder this is one of the best camping items on the market.
With a height of 73 inches and a width of 23, even the tallest of campers will be able to rest easy on these fantastic sleeping products. The one downside to this is that it can mean the Static V can be fairly difficult to take with you wherever you go, but a provided carry case offers a mobile option.
Due to its remarkable additional features and a well-crafted design, the Klymit Insulated Static V should be on every camper’s wish list. Insane performance and comfort provide you with a premium camping experience more commonly associated with expensive camping products. If you are looking for a new sleeping mat then make sure you consider this one. You will be hard-pressed to find one as comfortable as this!

The Klymit Insulated Static V has been crafted from the finest polyester offering long time use more commonly associated with expensive products.
Another layer of durability that is often overlooked is whether or not a product comes with some form of warranty or a money-back guarantee. The Klymit Insulated Static V comes with a Klymit lifetime warranty, so you can rest easy knowing you have purchased a durable pad.
Inflation and Deflation
Much like tents and other items that require a bit of effort to set-up, you will want your new pad to be fairly quick to both inflate and deflate. You will also want the process to be fairly straightforward as no one will want to mess around with multiple pumps and tools just to get a goods night’s rest.
Commonly, in the world of sleeping pads, you will find two forms of inflation methods, self-inflating, or manual inflation. Self-inflating is exactly what you expect, a pad that can inflate itself whenever the user is wanting to set up their pad. This is most commonly done through the use of a valve that you open allowing air to pass through. If you are after the simplest and quickest inflation method then a self-inflating pad is just what you need.
The other method, manual inflation, requires a little bit more effort, but some tools can help you get it done fast and efficiently. Manual inflation typically requires the user to blow up their pad either through their lungs or by using an inflation tool. They tend to take a lot more effort than self-inflating pads so always consider whether or not you mind this. This can be somewhat negated however by using an air pump to inflate your mat.
Thankfully, however, due to modern innovations, a lot of manual sleeping pads require little effort and can be filled in a few breaths. The Klymit Insulated Static V is a manual inflation pad, but one that features an incredibly easy-to-inflate design. Simply slide the valve to the side and blow into the tunnel, this should take no more than 10, 15 breaths. Although a self-inflation method would be ideal, the manual method featured on the Klymit Static V pad is incredibly easy to do.
As sleeping pads are predominately used during camping trips to sleep under the stars, you will want to make sure that it offers decent insulation. Laying on an ice-cold pad while trying to sleep can be a nightmare and just won’t offer you the comfort you crave.
Ideally, you will want your sleeping pad to feature some form of synthetic insulation to help keep the heat in and the cold out. This is usually achieved via tubing throughout your sleeping pad, with different chambers keeping the heat held within them. Due to a chambered design, the heat won’t be able to leave very easily keeping your pad heated throughout the night.
The Klymit Insulated Static V sleeping pad features a high-quality synthetic insulation method providing you warmth throughout the night. Air movement is slowed due to its use of chambered sections and deep welds thus preventing the warmth from escaping. This ensures your body maintains warmth no matter how cold it is outside.
Insulation in a sleeping pad is measured using something known as an R-value, with the R essentially standing for ‘resistance’. The higher the R-value of a sleeping pad, then the better it’s insulation will be and the more heat it will contain throughout use. Ideally, you want to look for an R-Value of 4 or higher as this will represent a well-insulated pad.
The Klymit Insulated Static V sleeping pad has an R-Value of 4.4 offering you a well-insulated product that maintains warmth throughout the night. This makes it especially ideal for the winter, but maybe too much for summer and springtime use.
Most users of a sleeping pad will want to take it with them on camping trips, or just generally keep it in the car for emergencies. This means that the easier your pad is to pack up and carry with you, the better it will be. A more mobile option will offer incredible ease of use and will prevent you from needing to mess around trying to stuff it into a bag that is way too small for it.
You will tend to find that a majority of pads will come with their own sleeping bag case that will allow you to roll your pad inside and take it with you wherever you go. The packed size of a pad will usually be extremely small as the manufacturers will know you want to take it to the campsite with you. This means you will usually struggle to find a sleeping pad that won’t fit within your stuff sack.
In terms of the Klymit Insulated Static V Sleeping Pad, it comes with its own carry case that will allow you to roll the pad up and take it with you. Added mobility is always a bonus in the world of air pads and the Klymit is thankfully such a product. Although it is slightly heavier than some others, it can be easily condensed into a much smaller size.
The weight of a sleeping pad will also alter how portable it is, with heavier products being too cumbersome to offer you a mobile product. It is rare to find a pad that is excessively heavy as they are usually crafted from light materials such as polyester. Try to figure out the weight of a product by checking its specifications to best determine whether or not it will be a pain to carry.
Overall it is easy to say that the Klymit Insulated Static V is one of the best air pads you will find on the market to date. Thanks to its wonderfully comfortable design and impeccable insulation ensuring you stay warm while sleeping under the stars, it is an excellent product.
Its use of side rails to prevent you from rolling around in your sleep is an excellent addition which has been reinforced by additional chambers slowing air movement and providing warmth all night. Those of you looking for an excellent pad, that can be inflated with less than 15 breaths, will struggle to find a product as good as this. Be sure to add this to your shopping cart today, or you may miss out on a stellar product that sells out fast!

If you plan on using an air pump please use it with care as they can inflate your new pad a lot quicker than you expect.
What R-value Sleeping Pad do I Need?
The R you should need in your pad will alter depending on the season, as synthetic insulation isn’t as important in the summer as it is during the winter. Ideally, during the winter season and late fall, you will usually want your air pad to have an R-value 4 or higher. Some users will find it comfier to sleep in a cool environment and vice versa so always choose a rating that suits you and the weather!
